• Cheap Cocktail Dresses | Affordable Cocktail Gowns - Gudeer.comDuring 2013, after 5 years of planning and making submission revisions, at our third attempt we finally succeeded in having our project plans for “making a museum” accepted by the Heritage Lottery Fund organisation.
  • This project phase alone requires a total investment of around £1.1 million and required that we raise a match fund of around £110,000 ourselves with the remainder being provided by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
  • During 2014 we received a little conditional HLF funding to commence more detailed site planning, investigation with local authorities and planning permissions for this development work.
  • During 2014 we launched our match fund appeal. Major donations of £1,000 qualify for enhanced recognition markers .
  • On the 10th October 2014, due primarily to our progress with match funding and other project and forward business plans the Heritage Lottery Fund website published the following message:- “Saddleworth Museum has received a confirmed grant of £1,000,046 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for its ‘Into the Future’ project, it was announced today.
  • By the end of March 2015 we finally reached our match fund target of £110,000.
  • During the first half of 2015 detailed project meetings commenced and any outstanding planning permissions were obtained.
  • In the summer of 2015 we moved some major industrial and transport items out of the museum  for safe keeping, or to new sites, and commenced making secure and packing up many collections to store within the museum and art gallery areas.
  • We closed the the museum and art gallery to the public on the 28th June 2015 and in July the contractors commenced the refurbishment work.
  •  After the contractors have completed some external and foundation work, and secured the site, we may be able place on site our portakabin temporary office and shop in December 2015
  • During the spring of 2016 we should also be contacting the major donors of £1,000 (those who did not request anonymity) to discuss the details for their enhanced recognition markers (inscribed raised kerbing stones outside the museum).
  • During the summer of 2016 we should be announcing more details concerning the re-opening of the refurbished building.
  • At this stage it is expected that staff and volunteers only will have access to the refurbished building during the summer of 2016 to commence the construction agreed of the new display, collections and exhibition areas.
  • A “soft” opening for Friends will be arranged during the summer of 2016 with an official grand opening in late summer or early autumn 2016.
