One of the hidden treasures of Saddleworth Museum is undoubtedly its archive.

Many people, while marveling at the exhibits on display, are unaware that under the same roof lies one of the single richest sources of local history to be found anywhere in the north of England.

There are Photographs, Maps, Deeds, Wills, Census Returns
and Parish Records. The earliest items date back to the late 1500s.
