We
have a large collection of Saddleworth objects dating from prehistoric
times to the present day. We
collect everything from flints to furniture, dolls to drainpipes
(trousers that is!), clay pipes to cameras, prams to paintings
and looms to Lego!
Much
of our collection consists of everyday domestic items such as
kitchen tools, crockery, cutlery, china ornaments, furniture,
toiletries, medical equipment, clay pipes, cameras, and spectacles
from the 18th century to the 20th century.
Saddleworth
was at the centre of the Industrial Revolution and as a result
we also have textile machinery from the 18th and 19th centuries
as well as accompanying books and tools.
We
also have an interesting collection of children’s dolls,
toys and games dating from Victorian times to the 1960’s,
a small transport collection, including a penny-farthing and a
model T Ford, and a growing costume and fine art collection
