April 2007 IN THE MILL POND

A new display looking at 'treasures' found in a local mill pond. Willowbank was originally built as Dam Head Mill (later renamed Albion Mill). The mill closed a number of years ago and was converted to apartments - the area with the mill pond help preserve what a traditional local mill looked like with its adjacent pond. The exhibition has some of the curiosities that have been found over the last few years including numerous old bottles, a mobile phone, a religious icon and a set of false teeth.

April 2007 SADDLEWORTH'S THE STAR

A new small display which looks at what films / TV have used the Saddleworth area as a backdrop - these include well known ones such as 'Yanks', 'Brassed Off' and the 'Probation Officer', but what about 'Jimmy Cricket' as well as 'Cliff Richard' !!!! The display also lists those around the Oldham area as a whole - so come to the exhibition to find out why the famous film 'Brief Encounter' has a link to Oldham.

June 2007 BOUNDARIES

The main theme odf the exhibition is 'Boundaries'. The distionary definition of a boundary is something that encloses a region, space or territory. The exhibition looks at this theme in many ways both natural and man made, including maps.

The exhibition will also include a section presented by the Saddleworth White Rose Society.

The exhibition will have a series of images by local documentary photographer Ian Beesley exploring the theme of boundaries from his back garden to the universe !
