Our Learning Team

The museum resources,  gallery displays, interactives, family trails and events bear evidence that our trustees, curator, reception staff, volunteers and “Friends” are engaged in many of our learning projects . We are fortunate, at the moment, to employ a dedicated learning activity officer (albeit part time) to primarily run our schools programmes and other museum and community learning projects.

Learning Activity Officer

In November 2019 Saddleworth Museum appointed a new part time  learning activity officer, Olivia Peers.

Olivia joined us with a wealth of experience working with young people, schools, and organisations with volunteers. With her workshop facilitation, project devising, managing and “best use of resource” skills Olivia is making the very best of the limited number of hours she has at her disposal in this post.

Olivia, as our learning activity officer, is primarily promoting learning activities to schools alongside developing other community projects.

Those with good memories may remember Olivia working with the museum on the “Dancestry” project in 2012, around 3 years before our refurbishment. If your memory is a little hazy, you can read more about the project here.

Away from the museum, Olivia also runs Born and Bred Dance Theatre and tries to introduce a little dance, where appropriate, into the learning programmes and projects she designs for the museum.
