Family Trail

A family visit to our museum galleries would not be complete without picking up one our family trail forms. Please ask for one at the admissions desk.

Can your child find the small characters we have placed in our gallery cabinets, on low shelves, slightly hidden behind objects on display or at some other “child’s eye level” position? The form does provide clues!

Once you, as a family, have found all the characters and ticked all the boxes, your child can hand in the form at reception. This form often goes into a monthly draw  for you child to receive a prize! (if you have found”nearly” all the characters why not ask the friendly reception staff for an extra clue?)

We snapped some children we spotted doing the family trail, using the family bags and the dressing up stations! We re-produce this photograph with their permission.                          THANK YOU! >>

LATEST FAMILY TRAIL NEWS: Over the Easter period we had a special trail with chicks instead of characters and every successful chid received a small chocolate Easter egg!

Explore our fun interactive galleries and discover Saddleworth’s unique heritage through hands-on activities around the museum. Have a go at our Family Trail prize draw, make a Victorian toy and weave some threads inspired by our infamous Dobcross Loom. Or if dressing up is your thing, put yourself in the picture as a Morris Man or local suffragette Annie Kenney (uploading to Facebook optional!).

From Ice Age animal bones, Viking Jewellery and accessible Victorian room, to name just a few of the exhibits, there really is something for all ages and interests.
