Explore our fun interactive galleries and discover Saddleworth’s unique heritage through hands-on activities around the museum. Have a go at our Family Trail prize draw, make a Victorian toy and weave some threads inspired by our infamous Dobcross Loom. Or if dressing up is your thing, put yourself in the picture as a Morris Man or local suffragette Annie Kenney (uploading to Facebook optional!).

From Ice Age animal bones, Viking Jewellery and accessible Victorian room, to name just a few of the exhibits, there really is something for all ages and interests.

LATEST NEWS: the dressing up stations continue to go down well and we love receiving visitor’s photographs of themselves in costume, keep them coming! The activity table, on the first floor in gallery 3, continues to be refreshed and currently has the theme “what do you think?”, please let your children spend a while in this area.. Cat & Lindsey 19th January 2017.

Family Bags

A family visit to our museum galleries would not be complete without one of our family bags. Please ask for one at the admissions desk. We currently have available “victorian life” and “transport” options.  February). A variety of creative crafts inspired by our museum displays.

LATEST NEWS: With lots of help from our volunteers Kate and Sally we launched our Family Bags, and these are proving a huge success! The current range theme ‘Victorian Life’ and ‘Transport in the Past’ and are full of activities and resources to further families’ experiences in the museum such as Victorian smell pots, parlour games and bus conductor’s dressing up items. With Kate and Sally’s help we will keep these fresh and complete and hope we can extend the themes later this year. Cat & Lindsey 5th January 20
